Interview of Artcell

By d_radiostar

Q: How did u come up with the name ‘ARTCELL’??
A: It was back in my school days when I (Ershad) dreamed myself playing guitar, Rumman (Lyricist) with his poetry and other friends doing other creative artworks. I had a wish that we all will work under a name in all fields of art and i thought that time Artcell would be the best name. It just came up and now i think it’s the best name to represent our aim.
Q: Which one is your first composed song??
A: Onno Shomoy
Q: What is the birthday of ARTCELL??
A: November 1999.
Q: What is your first band line up??
A: Same as you know now.

By in4onlyu

Q: How often do you go on world tour?
A: ?!?!?World tour???!!! hmm… once a week!!!? ;)
Q: Where do you get your ideas for the songs you compose or what inspires you?
A: Firstly our feelings and emotion takes place in every note of our music. Sometimes
it results maturely sometimes the attempt is childish. But its mostly our vision to breakdown a topic or feeling through a song.
Q: Which band in BD do u guys admire most?
A: Many bands are gifted with good musicians but those musicians are not always gifted with bands of their standard.

Q: Are you thinking about recruiting a new vocal, coz I think you should use a good
vocalist?
A: Absolutely not. We are happy with Lincoln and so our friends (It means a lot to us, cause ARTCELL is not just the four of us, It includes all our friends). I think you should give all of us a little more time so that we can gather more experience. Maturity comes with the experience. Look at any big band. The vocal sound takes few albums to stable. I think the same is true for us. (Specially the big band thing! ;)
Q: You guys are inspired by which bands (deshi/bideshi)?
A: At first we were inspired by Metallica a lot, and then lately Dream theater.
Q: Do you think you guys have achieved what you wanted or you still haven’t done it yet?
A: We have achieved so many things in these years that we never even thought of. But then again our goal keeps changing as we are achieving them. It’s like when you achieve something that means you are in the next level working for a different goal. It’s a never-ending process! So lets see what future brings.
Q: The last question, what genre explains that what type band u guys are? A: “Progressive Rock”

By desireless [Interview of Artcell]

Q: How did Artcell form? (i.e. the History behind formation of Artcell)
A: Well, it’s a long one. But let me just give you an idea. All of us were friends from school [not from the same school]. Ershad was then the guitarist of a band named Tantrik. Tantrik disbanded as Tomal [drummer of Tantrik] went to USA. Lincoln also joined Tantrik just before that. So they both started looking for a drummer and a bassist as Rony vai [The bassist of Tantrik] also didn’t continue music for personal reason. They got Cezan in the friend circle and i was just learning drum that time. So they decided to give me a chance. So, that how it started.

Q: Are you planning to promote Bangladeshi music abroad? What measures should be taken by any Band to do so?
A: We’d love to. But unfortunately there’s nothing much we can do about that. It’s in the hand of the organizers or other promoters. Well frankly speaking we never thought of it that seriously. If you have any ideas than if it’s possible for us to do, then we’re
on.
Q: Any chance of seeing Artcell with other bands coming to North America (specifically CANADA) to perform? Any plans?
A: As I said, it’s not in our hand. If some organizer wants to take us then only we can go. As of now, there is no plan like that.

Q: Apnader drummer usually ki khaya drum bajay?

Q: Namkoroner shomoi beshir bhag band group-kei pashchattho ghesha (to be appropriate–max. band groups have English name) naam choice korte dekha jai — kono jothopojokto karon???
A: Actually, the whole band thing itself is western. So i think people are more interested to give an English for the band. As for us, we looked for Bengali name. But nothing suited the spirit of the band. So we also went for English name. [If you have any Bengali name for band, you can share]
Q: Band shongeet abong amader Bangalittoo how do u relate this??
A: Band shongeet ki amader shomaj abong shongskriti-te notun dhara anche naki paschatter “transformed” ek protichchabi tule dhorche?

By amaderGaan [Interview of Artcell]

Q: CEZANNE… What major changes do you feel when you play in the lineup of ARTCELL and then in WARFAZE?
A: When I am on stage with ArtCell, its absolute raw power. And being on stage with Warfaze has always been a great honour.
Q: BD bands/compositions do not have that much bass work, you have any idea why? A: Listeners in Bangladesh have not yet developed ears to follow the baseline yet. Not necessarily the bass player has to play a solo to make the listener understand he exists.
Q: If you have choices to choose one of the bands, what you will choose?
A: No comments.
Q: In what area do you think you guys should speed up or need to achieve still? A: Of course there are a few areas such as Making songs more melodious, Sound and tone, overall kick ass attitude.

Q: When you guys are planning to release your next album???

Q: Notun album er theme ki dhoroner hobe?
A: We haven’t started working on the album yet. So, right now i can’t tell you anything about the theme or what type of music will be there.
Q: What is Artcell member’s future plan?
A: Immediate future plan is to Release a second studio album. Other than that, Grow up….Release album…..Concert….Grow up….Album….concert…..Disband
Q: Ershad vai, personally I like your music work. Just awesome. Daily how many hour’s do you practice? Who is your favourite guitarist?
A: 1 hour/week! I mostly play finger style. Favourite guitarists are Mark Knophler, Al de meola, Eric Johnson, John Petrucci.
Q: Linkon vai, do you practice daily…(vocal and guiter)? next album a ki aro metal voice asha kora jai?
A: Yes daily, vocal and guitar both. Sorry, can’t tell anything about next album right now. But hopefully Yes.
Q: Last question. Rupok vai was great person. Tar jonno khub kharap lage. Kivabe mara gelo? (khub jante essa korse)
A: He went to Bandarban with some of his friends for a vacation. After he’s back, everything was normal for few days. Then after a week or so he had this fever. The things got serious all of a sudden. His blood report found “Dengu”. So the treatment they gave in BIRDEM was for Dengu. But as the situation was not improving they suggested moving him to CMH. In CMH they checked again and there they found that he had “Celebral Maleria”. And that was already too late for them to give medication. But then again the Doctors tried their best. But ultimately they as well as Rupok couldn’t make it.
Q: AG te apnader dekha jai na ken? You people are most welcome.
A: We’ll join the AG ASAP. [I don’t wanna miss the Forum!! :)]

By AG [Interview of Artcell]

Q: Artcell stands alone on the sub-genre “progressive metal and rock”. What do u guys think is the main reason? Are you guys helping other new bands coming to grips with progressive metal?
A: I think the main reason is, not everybody likes progressive rock. For the listener it’s sometimes hard to listen. Maybe that’s why not many bands are coming up in this line. If you don’t like the music how can you play it? Well about us helping other new bands… the thing is, the only thing we do now is, encourage people to listen progressive rock/metal. Whenever anyone asks us which band to listen or which CD to buy we straightaway suggest him or her some Dream Theater album. Our vision is, If they like it, then when they’ll start doing music they’ll do this type of music.
Q: Any plans of launching a patriotic album in the future?
A: Maybe, Cant tell yet.

Q: Why do you guys think Artcell is successful?

A: :) First you tell me, why do you think we are Successful?
Q: In the midst of so many small Organizations forming, by what means can you guys
stay unique?
A: I don’t think i got the question. What uniqueness has got to do with all these small organizations? And as long as it’s about if they are good or bad for the music industry, I’d say yes they are good for the music industry.
Q: What do Artcell think about amadergaan.com? How can a site like this create an impact, and how has it been so far?
A: It’s a brilliant attempt. There are other sites that tried to do something like this. But ultimately AG did that, and achieved a position. You guys are already making impact. Specially in the Forum! ;) A job well done.
Q: How would band of yours magnitude can help amadergaan.com to be the standout
bangle music site representing all BD bands?
A: We didn’t think of that and now i can’t think of anything. So why don’t you guys just come up with ideas, we are always there to help you people. Just let us know what to
do.
:)
Q: Will Artcell take lyrics from other people?
A: Well, as you see this all the lyrics we used these far, either written by us, or our friends. So the thing is, we have to have some sort of understanding [mental] with the one who’s writing the lyrics. He or she also should have the understanding to know what type of lyrics we’ll require for a particular song.
